Hello, I'm so glad you're here.

I'm Stephanie Then, a Registered Clinical Counsellor providing in-person and virtual services. I support teens (16+), individuals and relationships.

Sometimes we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, hopeless or numb. It can look like repeated patterns of overthinking or people pleasing. Or be the result of life transitions, burnout, adverse childhoods or relationships, past trauma, or experiences of inequity and injustice.

I wholeheartedly believe we can all have fulfilling relationships and lead meaningful lives. Sometimes we just need support in healing and reconnecting with our true selves and a sense of purpose. This is where my role as your therapist is immensely invaluable and rewarding.

The most exciting breakthroughs of the 21st century will not occur because of technology but because of an expanding concept of what it means to be human. - John Naisbitt
The Therapy Process

Sessions may look like considering new patterns and skills, gently reconnecting with emotions and parts work. It is also a space to process thoughts and experiences, and to unlearn narratives that no longer serve.

My clients want to understand the core of their challenges so they can be aware of how their past informs their present and the beliefs and patterns that keep them stuck. From here conscious shifts can be made towards healing and a life more authentic and purposeful .

What to Expect

As a relational therapist I centre humanness and authentic connection. I am often described as having a calming, engaged and compassionate presence that makes clients feel understood and cared for. I also bring a friendly, easy-going and reassuring nature that immediately puts others at ease.

You can expect transparency, choice and flexibility in how we approach each session. We will work together to co-create goals and a therapeutic approach that best suits your specific needs.

My Approach

As our challenges can be the result of unrecognized trauma or share similarities in impact, I use a trauma informed lens to best help clients heal and grow.

My work is also rooted in attachment and emotion-based theories, and incorporates somatic and mindfulness concepts. These concepts are further integrated with evidence based therapies while considering the influence of larger cultural and social contexts on lived experience.

I'm an inclusive practitioner that welcomes diversity and is culturally sensitive. With a trauma informed and intersectional lens, I recognize how the adversity and traumas our bodies carry, gender, sexual orientation, race, culture and society all influence our patterns for coping, our identities, beliefs and relationships.
